VISTA Hires Senior Solutions Engineer

VISTA has hired Gary Siorek as senior solutions engineer. Siorek will work closely with VISTA's National Director for Asset Management Solutions, David Baker to develop VISTA’s practice area in commercial software solutions, integrating mapping sciences and spatial data for better real property asset management.

“There’s a clear convergence of Geographic Information Systems and facilities data as it applies to real property asset management,” said VISTA President and CEO David Baxa. “Focusing on one over the other comes at the expense of the big picture. VISTA has extensive expertise in GIS and understands how to apply that technology to real property. We welcome Gary’s contribution as we continue to expand our business in this area.”

Before coming to VISTA, Siorek was GIS/GPS Technical Support Manager for Surveylab USA in McLean VA. Prior to Surveylab he was GIS/Photogrammetry Project Manager for VARGIS. He has deep experience in data development projects for state, county, and local governments, utilities, and private businesses. In previous work, Siorek coordinated with technical and support staff for aerial photograph, GIS, planimetric, and remotely sensed data production, quality control, client issues, programs and GIS and CAD analysis. He also provided cartography, GIS data development, and GIS analysis.

A veteran in GeoSpatial/Geographic Information Systems technology, Siorek received his B.S. in Natural Resources Planning from Eastern Michigan University.

GIS systems are becoming more accepted tools in asset management, according to the General Services Administration (GSA). In the June 2006 edition of GSA’s Real Property Policysite Newsletter, Sandra Downie discussed the Geospatial initiative in OMB’s Federal Enterprise Architecture action plan. She stressed that ‘the standardization of location data in business transactions facilitates the calculation of the life cycle cost of an asset.”
