VISTAtsi's Board Member, Tony Cancelosi, is Featured in Leadership Blog

"Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Matches D.C. Business Needs With Those Of Returning Vets"

Washington, DC (December 5, 2011) -- VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTAtsi) is proud to announce that one of its Board members, Tony Cancelosi, was recently featured in Seth Kahn's Fast Company blog. Tony Cancelosi, President and CEO Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB), has rescued it -- and the veterans it serves - from the brink. His focus on business innovation was key to resuscitating the ailing organization; central to his efforts is the program, Bridge to Work, which provides essential training for wounded warriors. Cancelosi used Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind as an incubator to test the program, and now, after three years and cross-county support, he has a mature program and is in the process of identifying corporate sponsors.

"The disabilities groups within the different counties recognized the fact that our veterans were coming back through miracle medical attention and had all the capabilities of survival," remarked Cancelosi. "Yet they still needed to be reconstituted back into society at a level that they could be earning a living, and still maintain the quality of life that they had before they went into the military."

Cancelosi decided to make veterans a focus of his work just over three years ago when he took a look at the statistics of injured veterans who were being transported back to the United States and recognized that a large percentage were visually impaired or blind. He understands what veterans have sacrificed, the hardships they endure, and is dedicated to supporting them. Since 2003, Cancelosi has also served as a Director on VISTAtsi's Board; VISTAtsi is a veteran-owned company headquartered in Herndon, VA. VISTAtsi's CEO, David Baxa, states that "it is truly an honor to work with Tony. His strong values and integrity make his leadership on our Board invaluable."

About Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Since 1900, Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind has been dedicated to helping the blind or visually impaired population of the greater Washington region overcome the challenges of vision loss. Its work enables people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired to remain independent, active and productive in society.
